Day 5 | 04.05.2016: Visit to the orphanage in Plovdiv, Bulgaria

After a three-hour wait at the border between Albania and Macedonia, we drove through the entire night and arrived in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in good time. We were given a very warm welcome by the entire management of the orphanage Maria-Luisa and our interpreter. Our rally cars were once again lightened of children’s clothes, toys, cuddly animals and a further cheque worth CHF 3’333.-.

We also got in touch with the Judo Club Nova and had originally planned to join a training session. We hadn’t expected our delay and so we simply handed the judo kit directly to the club’s director.

As a thank-you for the delicious Bulgarian food and the chance to use the showers, we planted a rose bush in the orphanage garden.
