Oasefäscht - A Successful Info Event

What a fantastic barbecue! Around 85 friends, acquaintances, family members, sponsors and the press were invited to our info event last Sunday. The goal was to give a comprehensive presentation of our humanitarian, charitable project at a relaxed barbecue. Guests could enjoy food and take a guided tour through the Oase — our workshop.

How did we come up with this idea?

Three weeks ago we started to feel that it was difficult to explain our rally to friends and acquaintances with words alone. What exactly are you doing there? What is the Oase? What do you do with the cars? Which countries do you drive through? Answering all these questions — and doing so ten times over — takes a lot of time. It’s much easier to bring people together and inform them all at once. That’s when the spontaneous idea came to us: a barbecue to present our project and guide people through our Oase. No sooner said than done. Andi called a quick meeting, and from there everything fell into place rapidly.

Preparation and responsibilities

Yanik sat down at the computer, created a flyer, and started thinking about the salad and cake buffet. Philipp worked out the concept for the interior design of our Oase. Joél took charge of ordering the drinks. Lukas was responsible for the grill and organised our JGO T-shirts. Roger was in charge of the coffee machine and the donation box. Andi was responsible for the festival benches, the projector presentation, and overall coordination. On top of that, our Oase still needed to be spruced up. The toilets needed a water connection and proper lighting. The wooden floor and trestle table had to be repaired, and so on.

The barbecue

Promptly at 1:00 pm we were ready to welcome our guests in our Oase. Our parking manager Philipp made sure that arriving guests could step calmly from their cars straight into the aperitif.

At 1:45 pm, after the aperitif, Andi welcomed the guests with an opening speech and introduced the JGO team. The enormous salad buffet was then opened. Yanik and Lukas looked after the sausages, Joél served the guests with drinks. Every 50 minutes Roger led a group through the Oase and answered all the questions that came up. At the end of the tour, guests could sit back and enjoy the (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTNiMzcReeg). At 2:45 pm the varied dessert buffet opened and invited everyone to coffee and lingering in the garden.

In short, the event was a huge success. Our goal was exceeded by far. But of course none of this would ever have been possible without the many helping hands working away in the background.

Words of thanks

A heartfelt thank-you to all the helpers who supported us at this event — whether with a salad, a cake, or simply by helping to set up and clear away.

We also warmly thank all our guests for their generous donations. Without you and your interest we could never have celebrated such a successful event.

A heartfelt thank-you to Dominik Donat for providing the parking space. He runs, among other things, the Bollhof — the only organic farm in Wohlen.

We look forward to our next encounters and interesting conversations with you.

Upcoming dates to note

6–8 September we will be at the SCHEGA (Schenkenberger Gewerbeausstellung) in Schinznach. Another opportunity to get to know us.
14 September we are organising a charity party together with Prism at the Andalusia in Mellingen. More details to follow.
