More Space with Roof Boxes
Three vehicles with trailers are not enough! Last time (2016) we transported a tonne of donated goods. We want to top that and are fitting our rally cars with matching roof boxes.
Concept for our roof boxes
We took the basic concept for our roof boxes largely from our last rally. Our experiences were very positive. The boxes were sturdy and offered plenty of space. Only the weight was a bit on the heavy side. :) For this reason we aimed for a few improvements and also refined the manufacturing process.
The holes not only save us weight but also allow us to attach ratchet straps. Our roof boxes are 2.5 x 1.2 m in size and are mounted to the roof rail of the vehicle using a clever system.
Material sponsored by KOCH AG
The timber we needed was sponsored by KOCH AG, Büttikon. We were delighted by the collaboration. We were able to collect no fewer than five sheets for our project. As you can see in the photo, KOCH AG works with larger sheets than we expected. :) We need the timber for the roof boxes, the interior fitting (sleeping area) and repairs to the trailers. A heartfelt thank-you to KOCH AG for this generous support.
Completion at Markus Berger, Küchenbau-Schreinerei Boswil
A heartfelt thank-you to Markus Berger for the use of his workshop. In just one day under the direction of Joél, our kitchen builder, we routed, sanded, screwed, painted and assembled our three roof boxes. You can see how it all went in this video:
Roof box lettering sponsored by Richnerstutz, Villmergen
Our roof boxes aren’t just for transporting aid supplies, spare tyres, cooking utensils etc. We also use them as advertising space for us. A heartfelt thank-you to Richnerstutz, Villmergen for sponsoring the lettering on the roof boxes as well as the car name stickers on our vehicles.
