Time to Get Colourful – School Project by Class S3b
Making a real-world connection in school for the subject of visual arts isn’t always straightforward. The grey wall of the Oase offered a unique opportunity. Pupils from the Bünzmatt school painted our Oase in this project and demonstrated their creative talents.
Our Oase got a striking facelift. Class S3b under the direction of Claude Hasler went flat out and transformed our Oase into a real oasis. Armed with brushes, old clothes and plenty of paint, the pupils left their classroom and painted our south-facing wall piece by piece over several lessons. From simple sketches on paper, to self-made stencils, through to the final colour composition — the pupils were pushed to their limits. They quickly learned to divide the work into packages and distribute them among working groups. Coordination and teamwork were essential. With great enthusiasm and a good eye for detail, they transformed the grey surface into a true work of art. Alongside the fun factor, they learned about the pitfalls and challenges of turning sketches into reality. They picked up new practices and methods and got to grips with the craft of a painter.
