Missing Form Stops Us at the Border Crossing into Greece

Day 12: Nessebar (BG) – Ormenio (GR)

After a night at one of the worst campsites in the world (there’s a 100% chance none of us will ever willingly go back there), we crawl out of our rally cars. A coffee brewed in the Italian Bialetti Moka and we’re off, heading south.

We decide to drive to Nea Moudania in Greece to enjoy a three-day break at our own expense. However, we are stopped at the Greek border in Ormenio because we are missing the required entry form PLF. It has now been filled in electronically and submitted — all we can do is wait for the QR code so we can cross the border. After a «whopping» six-hour wait at customs — which we make shorter with frisbee and ball — the barrier is raised and we can set off.

Driving long distances every day is tiring, and since we have successfully completed the first two aid projects, we can treat ourselves to the little break before heading through North Macedonia to the school in Bllice in Albania. We had already visited this school on our humanitarian charity rally in 2016. Since we still have school bags, writing and art supplies, and soft toys with us, we decided on the spot to drop them off at the school in Bllice.

After this long wait we treat ourselves to a fantastic Greek meal right on the beach. We can highly recommend the restaurant Taverna Aigiorgis. We spend the night in the car park and continue our journey early the next morning.

Brief summary:

Day twelve stops us at the Greek border due to the missing PLF form. Waiting for the QR code looks set to leave us sleeping on customs premises — fortunately that doesn’t come to pass and we manage to drive to just past Alexandroupolis. No problem, because GLORIA, SELMA and ALEXA let us sleep splendidly anywhere.
