A short break by the sea at Nea Moudania

Day 13: Mesembria (GR) – Nea Moudania (GR)

After a lovely dinner we crawl out of ALEXA, GLORIA and SELMA fully motivated this morning at around 6 a.m., as we still have a good four hours of driving before our little three-day break by the sea begins. Wonderful weather accompanies us on the beautiful drive along the coast.

Over bumpy and winding roads we arrive in Nea Moudania without any trouble. At this time of year not many hotels are open yet, and we are lucky to find one right by the sea that is. We are happy to say this in advance before any rumours start: this short break is financed not with donation money but by each team member from their own pocket.

Quick check-in, into our swimming trunks and then the long-awaited jump into the sea. The water is barely 20 degrees, but that’s the cooling off we had planned. Here we are pausing our rally for a short three-day break before continuing on through North Macedonia to Albania.

We have already been in contact with the school in Bllice in Albania, and they are very happy to see us again after five years. We too are curious to see what it looks like after five years, and above all to see on the ground how our donations from back then were put to use.

During our short break we are allowing ourselves to take a day off from the daily blog as well, and plan to write again daily from Thursday or Friday.

Brief summary:

Day thirteen accompanies us along a dream-like Greek coastal road and glorious weather all the way to Nea Moudania. The absolute highlight of today is, of course, the long-awaited jump into the sea. From now on we are enjoying the sweet “doing nothing” – or rather, not driving – for three days. We’ll be back with the next blog on Thursday or Friday. Take care…
