150 school desks and 170 chairs delivered to the primary school<br>in Bllice, Albania

It all started with the question: “Could we use school desks and chairs for Albania…?”
The first meeting took place in November 2021, in December 2021 we
then made contact with our partner VIZION O.J.F. in Albania. And now all the materials have been delivered. But let’s take it nice and slow, one step at a time…

So, we were approached by the school in Wohlen asking whether we could use retired school desks, chairs and school materials for our aid projects in Albania…? After some clarification with Albania, it quickly became clear that our new project “Delivering retired school materials to Albania” was ready to take off.

After an initial inspection and inventory of the school materials in the Wohlen school buildings Bünzmatt, Junkholz and Halde, we got the organisation underway. With our partner VIZION O.J.F. in Albania, we agreed on a delivery date — at the start of the summer holidays in early July 2022 — and the goal was to complete the project by that date. The aim: that when the children walk into their classrooms after the summer holidays, they can use the new “old” school desks and chairs from Wohlen.

Almost simultaneously we went in search of sponsors for the transport and a freight company that could handle customs clearance and delivery. We found a freight company in the international aid organisation Osteuropahilfe “Triumpf des Herzens” in Einsiedeln, which has supported us in this regard.

Then everything moved very quickly. On Wednesday, 29 June 2022, around 150 school desks and 170 chairs were loaded onto the truck at the Wohlen school buildings. Just four days later, on Monday 04 July, the truck had cleared customs in Albania in the Dibra district in the town of Peshkopi and was unloaded at the school in Bllice the same day.

The transport, customs clearance and unloading all went smoothly. The teachers on site were able to receive the school desks and chairs with beaming faces. They are overjoyed at the superb condition of the desks and chairs.
”No more rickety tables and chairs for the children, nothing rattles or wobbles — what a joy…” says project manager Suela Koçibellinj from VIZION O.J.F., who extends a heartfelt thank-you on behalf of the school in Bllice to the school in Wohlen and the Judo goes Orient Team.

All these school materials don’t make it to Albania for free, of course… That’s why we are still busy collecting donations. “Every cent counts…” We thank you for your donations to:
